Costa Rica
is located in Central America between
Panama and Nicaraqua, and between the Caribbean Sea and
the Pacific Ocean. Costa Rica is part of a natural land
bridge between North and South America. The country
has a population of approximately 3.5 million people and
covers an area of 51,000 square kilometers (32.000 square
miles).
LANGUAGE:
The official language is Spanish, however, English is widely
spoken.
GOVERNMENT: One of the oldest and most stable
democracies in America.
RELIGION: Predominantly Catholic, but there
is freedom of religion.
CURRENCY: The "Colon", at present time 328 Colones
to one US dollar.

RICA holds 5% of the world's
biodiversity in only 0.05% of the world's territory.
Approximately 32% of the country's total territory is protected
by the Nation Park System, Wildlife Refuges and Private
Protected Areas.

RICA envoy's the highest literacy
rate in Latin America at almost 95%. This peace loving
nation abolished the army in 1948. Costa Rica is a great
defender of human rights. Slavery was abolished in 1823
and the death penalty in 1859. Former president Oscar Arias
Sanchez received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987.
COSTA
RICA'S CLIMATE is a tropical
climate and divided into two seasons, dry season (December
- April) and a rainy season (May - November). All
year round, warm tropical weather prevails. Temperature
ranges between 50ºF and 70ºF, and at the beaches between
70ºF and 100ºF. In the Central Valley, which is located
at a higher elevation with cooler temperatures, resembles
spring time with average temperatures about 76ºF.
